Jobs.

From 1992 to 2000, more than 22 million jobs were created in the United States. Since George W. Bush assumed office, the country has lost more than a million (through June, 2004).

Some look at these numbers and argue that Bill Clinton inherited a recovery and George W. Bush inherited an ensuing recession. There is some truth to that, we suppose. But it is hard to argue that during Clinton's entire time in office, the country gained an average of about 2.7 million jobs a year. During George W. Bush's time in the White House, the country has averaged more than 325,000 jobs lost per year. There's much more to these numbers than the happenstance of the year each person was elected.
